Joni Binder has a BFA in photography from California Institute of the Arts, and also formerly served there as a Trustee. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors for TurnaroundArts California, and as the Curator for the California Lieutenant Governor's Arts Project (https://ltg.ca.gov/lg-arts-project/)


She has served as president of the Modern Art Council at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, where she also served as a trustee, and where currently she serves on the Education Committee. Joni has provided leadership as an arts education advocate in California, serving as one of the subcommittee chairs for the CREATE-CA Task Force, and nationally having served as a Fine Arts Committee member and Education Committee co-chair for the Diplomatic Reception Rooms of the U.S. Department of State. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and two children. Mile 46 is her first book.
